Accompanist Steven Ionov

A classically-trained pianist from New York City, Steven Ionov has studied with distinguished pedagogues including Dr. Sophia Genis and most recently, James Bassi. He has performed in recital at the Kaufmann Center in Lincoln Center, Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall and other notable venues; collaborative work includes a national TV appearance as vocal accompanist for Czech Center New York. In recent years, he has sought to empower musicians of all stripes in pursuing their passions, and has taught classical music to aspiring performers of all ages. In addition, he is co-founder and Events Coordinator of American Protégé Music Competitions, one of the premier music competitions in the United States. The competition hosts performances by musicians from over 50 countries at Carnegie Hall each year, with many winners going on to achieve wide acclaim.

Outside of music, Steven has earned two Bachelor’s Degrees in Biology and Chemical Engineering at New York University. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Biomedical Engineering at Dartmouth. His research focus is on high-resolution studies of antibody responses to viral vaccines; he and others in his research group seek to understand the human antibody response in unprecedented detail and find insights which may lead to new vaccines and therapeutics.

Steven is grateful for the opportunity to work with Upper Valley Voices, and excited to be part of this long-standing musical community.
